The "Man Flower" that inspires!

Over the years I have seen some of the most beautiful and unique boutonnieres, and I have also seen my share of the drab, same old stuff from back in the day. Boutonnieres now a day have come a long way. I wanted to talk about this because men typically don't care about these types of things, they just know they have to wear a suit, with a flower on it, and that's true for the most part. But, when you have something that is as unique, and eye catching as 2 left feet, not only will you have everyone talking about how great you look in your wedding tux, but they will also talk about how great your "man flower" :) looks.

Here are a few ideas to inspire your groom to be. Something that is as unique as he is!

Themed Weddings

To theme, or not to theme, that is the question!

Now, don't get me wrong, I am a sucker for a themed wedding. Well, any wedding for that matter. But, when does one thing that is meant as a detail become to much? Anything can be great if done in moderation, but to much can just basically turn your wedding day from beautiful in tacky. Here are a few things that I found, and I just wanted to give my opinion on. I love butterflies, so we are going to use a butterfly themed wedding as an example

I really like the uniqueness of this dress. Its bright, its colorful, and very spring time-ish. I also love the fullness of it. However, this definitely would not be a "walking down the isle" dress.

This bouquet is cute and definitely different. I'm not sure if I would walk down the isle with a paper bouquet, but each bride is different. And if this is something that you would enjoy I say go for it. Dare to be different!!!

OK, so here's another dress. Definitely a second reception dress. But , it almost looks like a costume. This definitely makes a statement, and would be cute on a 5 year old, but I'm not sure about an adult.

These three things combined would definitely be "butterfly overkill", but if you put the butterfly touches throughout your wedding, you will have the perfect themed wedding.

Here are a few different ways to pull off your theme without over doing it.

•  Instead of an entire butterfly bouquet, use beautiful butterfly brooches similar to this, to add that special touch to your bouquet. These can also be incorporated into your centerpieces.

•  Butterfly decor on your cake would also be a beautiful touch, as well as butterfly napkin rings
  
  

At the end of the day, each wedding and each bride has their own personality and sense of style. As long as you are happy with the end result, who's to say you have to much or to little of one thing at your event. So, are themed weddings really a thing of the past? In my opinion, absolutely not!!

2012 Trends!

Wow!!!! I cant believe its been such a long time since I've had a chance to blog. We had a very busy year last year, and with the birth of my 2nd son, my time quickly  became their time. So, I took about 6 months off, changed a lot of things, and here I am. Intimate Events, is still here, and in full effect. We have had lots of memorable weddings to add to our portfolio, and we just keep growing and growing.

I just want to basically jump right back into the swing of things, and pick up right where I left off. So, with that said here are some of my favorite wedding trends for 2012.

Last year’s royal wedding absolutely influenced wedding dress trends. Thanks to Kate’s long lace sleeves, we will be seeing a greater variety of different necklines and sleeve lengths. Strapless gowns will take a back seat to one shoulder, illusion necklines, cap sleeves, and deep v necks. Dresses will be much more romantic and elegant than last year. This doesn’t mean that traditional “princess” gowns should be expected. Some will be long, fitted and sleek. Others will be in pale colors such as blush.

Above all, expect more glamour. For several years, we have seen a trend towards simple and in 2012 we will start to move away from that. From sparkly accents to faux fur shrugs, weddings will look more expensive and have that little extra “pop” of opulence. Bejeweled details will also be popular, such as cool brooches on bouquets, decorating candleholders, and adorning invitations.

The very popular food stations from last year will continue through 2012. Although, there will be more details to dress them up such as sleek matching signage and more emphasis on presentation. Many couples will choose to have a food station as their favors such as “make your own midnight snack” tables featuring popcorn, candies, and cookies. Dessert tables will be less about cupcakes and feature more bite-sized desserts and pastries, alongside a layer cake (let’s face it–the most crucial detail for any guest).

In flowers, big and lush bouquets are making a comeback. Expect lots of multi-textured bouquets with different hues. Centerpieces, although they won’t all necessarily match, will also follow this trend. Even couples who choose to use flower substitutes, such as paper flowers or food centerpieces, will be incorporating a lot of dynamic textures.

The vintage and rustic trends will still be huge in 2012, but will definitely be taken up a notch. Couples are realizing that not everyone can make DIY look like an Amy Atlas tablescape (seriously, who can pull that off?). However, they love the individualization and originality that DIY details can provide. Therefore, many couples will start buying their “DIY” details, and having florists and other artists complete their vision for them.

Couples are starting to think of their wedding as less of an impressive, but somewhat impersonal, event and more of an intimate gathering. Some weddings will have smaller guest lists to achieve this, while larger weddings will use communal dining tables and creating small spaces within the event room to have the feel of a more inclusive gathering.

The color palettes for 2012 are at seemingly opposite ends of the spectrum. Super creamy neutrals are very on-trend through most of 2012. However, extra bright pops of color will be present over the spring and summer, such as red-orange, lime greens, and royal blues. Black is also back in a big way as an accent color.
As great as the 2011 weddings were, we at Intimate Events can’t wait to see the real weddings this year!

Getting the New Year Started!!!

Hello All,

Im so excited to get this new year started. We have so many cool things going on right now, and Im just looking forward to everything that 2011 has to offer. We are working on hosting our own bridal show this year, and I just have so many ideas that I would like to incorporate into that show. I know that its going to be A LOT of hard work but I am sooo up for the challenge. We are super charged and ready to get things into high gear. Even though Im extremely excited about Jaylen (my new baby boy that will be here in February) Im also excited about whats to come for Intimate Events, and my family is just the push that I need to continue to strive for my dreams and goals. I am so into the bling and chrome this year, I cant wait to incorporate that into some of our events for the year. HAPPY 2011!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! I am so thankful to God for allowing me and my family to see another wonderful year, 2010 was good, but I know that 2011 will be even better. I do want to congratulate all of the newly engaged couples in the area, this is a very exciting time in your life. Please remember to take your time and enjoy each other and enjoy being engaged while planning your big day. It is so easy to get lost in all of the "Hoopla" that goes into planning such a big event like your wedding, that you can easily loose sight of why you got engaged in the first place. In the beginning all you have is each other, and after everything is said and done, all you have is each other and memories of your big day.

New Year, New Me!!!

Wow......I didnt realize how long it has been since I posted a blog. So let's see, myself and my husband have had our first child Andre Evans Jr. on 9/22/09, and I'm excited to say we are expecting baby boy #2 in February of 2011. The year 2010 was very busy and very exciting for "Intimate Events", and I must say that we did some of our most dramatic weddings this year. I must be honest though, with the birth of my son, that definately kind of slowed things down for "Intimate Events", I was so used to always being on the go, and being about business, that when my son arrived, I really just couldn't get the hang of trying to balance business, and motherhood. I thank God that at this point in my life I am able to balance the two very well and am looking forward to 2011 for "Intimate Events" and my family.

Brides to be, I say this to you. Planning your wedding and managing your time with other things in your life is not an easy task, you will be so greatful to have good, professional help on your big day, because in the end your sanity is all you have. Dont try to do it all yourself, because when you do that you put more stress and worry on you than you realize.

Wow, time has surely gone by fast. I know I haven't posted since November, but one of my new year's resolutions is to post more often. I'm shooting for at least once per week. With the hard economic times that we are facing, saying "I DO" and having the wedding of your dreams can be harder than you orginally expected. But don't get down and out if you can't have the "BIG" wedding that you've always dreamed. You can still have everything you want without suffering in the wallet. A lot of times, we as women want what we want, when we want it. But now a day we have to compromise more than ever, especially when it comes to our wedding. Bride to be, don't get discouraged, just remember that you can still have your special day even in this tough economic time. You can still say "I DO", on your big day without the stress in your wallett. And as always, a good wedding planner is always the best investment that you can make even if you are on a budget.
